JLI Judaism 7 laws.jpg

The new course from the Jewish Learning Institute, titled “For All Humankind,” is essentially an exploration of how Jewish wisdom speaks not just to Jews, but to universal human concerns.

Here’s a clear breakdown of what it’s about and what you can expect:

🌍 Big Idea

The course argues that Judaism isn’t only a personal or cultural identity—it carries a universal ethical message relevant to all humanity.

It asks:

  • What makes a good life?
  • What creates a just society?
  • How can spiritual values improve the world?

📚 What You’ll Learn

1. A Universal Moral Vision
You’ll explore classic Jewish texts (Torah, Talmud, and later teachings) to uncover values meant for everyone—not just Jews—like justice, compassion, and responsibility.

2. Personal Spiritual Path
The course looks at how Judaism offers a framework for meaningful living, including purpose, moral discipline, and connection to something higher.

3. Family & Daily Life
It dives into how these values shape:

  • Relationships
  • Family structure
  • Everyday decision-making

4. The Power of Education
A big theme is that education is central in Judaism—not just for knowledge, but for shaping character and society.

5. Building a Better World
You’ll explore Judaism’s vision of a perfected world—often tied to ideas like:

  • Justice for all people
  • Peace between nations
  • Moral responsibility on a global scale
